Congratulations to students from University of St Thomas and Minnesota State University Mankato for participating in the 2nd Annual RMA MN Chapter Student Credit Competition on April 12th, 2025.
SPECIAL CONGRATS to UST for taking home the win!
The college students put together excellent proposals and thoroughly impressed the judges and audience members alike, with their thoughtful analysis and in depth presentation skills.
A case study was presented to students including market & financial analysis, risk mitigation, projections, and outside-of-the-box analytical thinking in order to assist a business owner with financing additional assets & implementing green initiatives in order for their company to thrive.
The morning was followed by a networking lunch, mentorship and guidance between the students and professionals. Checks were distributed to all the student participants of over $3,000 for their hard work.
The RMA MN Chapter would like to thank all of our volunteers who contributed time and effort to make this competition successful.
A special shout out to our judges Debbie Lange, Kyle Rabine and Steve McGlothlin for volunteering their time on a Saturday morning and providing wonderful feedback to the students.
Thank you, Sunrise Banks, for hosting the event, and many thanks to Todd Sharkey for organizing, presenting, and sustaining the competition.

CONGRATULATIONS!
The goal of this competition is to provide an opportunity for business school students to network with industry leaders while gaining insight into credit risk management and its many facets.
The competition will challenge analytical, business education and presentation skills with an exercise in identifying and mitigating the credit risks banks face when lending to a small business. Teams consisting of 3 - 5 members will participate in a case study requiring them to analyze complex information and recommend an appropriate structure for approval of a small business loan request.
To assist in the analysis and preparation, we pair teams up with a mentor from local banks to offer insight and guidance. Our goal is to hold the final presentations in person this year. Representatives from our competition sponsor firms are planning to be onsite in the form of a mini job fair. We encourage students to bring their resumes and network!
The Risk Management Association, with the support of the Competition Sponsors shown below, plans to allocate at least $4,000 in prizes to be awarded to the top teams. The more teams that participate, the larger the prize pool.
Eligibility: Senior, Junior, and Sophomore level Business/Finance majors currently attending a participating University.
