The HOW of Tough Conversations
Regardless of your experience, responsibilities and personality, we all face tough workplace conversations and tense moments during meetings or one-on-one encounters.
Think of situations such as performance discussions, balancing the needs of a client with the procedures of your financial institution, conversations with loved ones about working long hours, turning down a candidate, or being turned down from a job opportunity yourself. These are testing moments, in which it may be difficult to see and think clearly, or worse, in which emotions run wild, rationality flies out the window, and we see ourselves freeze, explode or otherwise react regrettably.
There is of course no ‘one size fits all golden formula’ for tough conversations, yet there are numerous insights and tips for you to apply to make challenging situations more predictable and manageable. This interactive session helps you reflect on your behavioral and thought patterns and provides easy to apply tips on how to deal with conversational hot buttons and change the course of a conversation to one that honors your own and the other person’s needs and wishes.
