3 Day Course: Tuesday, June 8 – Wednesday, June 9 – Thursday, June 10
9:00 - 11:30am via Zoom

This course provides an informal process to move through the credit process and managing each step from prospecting to post close monitoring. The emphasis is on effectively communicating the credit risk associated with the client within the credit presentation.

Points on prospecting, building the request, analysis, structure and monitoring of the closed financing are all shared in the context of building the credit presentation properly. Expectations are set on various industries and loan types to assure that the qualitative analysis is complete. A full analysis of the cash to cash cycle, the cash cycle, using the right cash flow method, structuring debt, as well as management assessment is included.

The goal of the analysis is to boil down the presentation without losing effectiveness. If you cannot say it succinctly and get to the point, you do not understand it or do not believe in it. The key take away is the understanding that an Underwriter and Banker job is not making a loan, but managing credit risk.

This is a foundation course being offered by RMA-MN that sets the stage for further learning.

Course Coverage:

  • Presentation of an informal model to advance the client from prospect to client organizing the lender and their team through the process.
  • Financial statement analysis of key information, setting expectations for the core cash drivers, cash to cash cycle, cash cycle, UCA Cash Flow and the impact each will have on the credit risk of the borrower.
  • Writing concise credit presentations that focus on the core credit risk associated with the specific borrower, industry, type of loan structure, management and marketplace impact.
  • Monitoring existing borrowers for early warning signs of trouble or areas of opportunities to expand the relationship.

Recommended Participants: Credit Analysts, Underwriters and Commercial Bankers of all levels.

Needed Items: Pen/Pencil, Calculator, Fully Charged Lap and access to zoom
