INTRODUCTION TO TITLE INSURANCE
Do you understand the purpose of a title insurance policy and how to read a title commitment?
This two-hour course is for any one is looking to learn about, or for a refresher, on title insurance policies.

This class will answer such questions as:

  • What is title insurance and what does it do for the lender?
  • What is the difference between abstract and torrens property?
  • What goes into completing a title search?
  • What are endorsements which ones generally requested and why?
  • What is the difference between a title commitment, a proforma, and a title policy?
  • Does my customer need an owner’s policy?
  • What are the costs associated with title insurance and what varies from city to city/county to county?
  • What is a proceeding subsequent and how long does it take to complete?

  • Jayna Brede - Jayna is a Commercial Account Manager and Closer for Old Republic Title. She has over 4 years of experience in both residential and commercial title insurance.
  • Rick Zilka - Rick is a Vice President Senior Underwriting Counsel and Closer with Old Republic Title. He started his career in real estate soon after graduating from Hamline University School of Law. Rick has enjoyed nearly thirty years in commercial real estate and provides invaluable perspective to the commercial department at Old Republic Title.
